Andrew Meurant – Director
Andrew is tertiary qualified in Horticulture, Agribusiness and Business Management from Queensland Agricultural College, University of Queensland and Southern Cross Universities. He has both practical and professional experience across Australia in the horticulture, summer and winter cropping and livestock segments.
Throughout his career, Andrew has strived to successfully develop and maintain strong relationships and active networks from the farm gate though to the consumer. Awarded the AUSVEG Industry Leader Award in May 2010, his experience and contacts are strongly weighted in the agriculture industry, specialising in horticulture.
Andrew’s career highlights are diverse and include pioneering the development of the Australian mango industry through to senior management roles with iconic agribusinesses. Andrew’s broad work history includes extensive experience and knowledge of on-farm practices, the theoretical and practical application of R&D and a deep involvement and understanding of the farm supplies sector.
His on-farm experience is predominantly gleaned from the tropics, having spent many years as a farm manager producing a range crops including mangoes and various other tropical fruits, cucurbits, capsicums and tomatoes. More recently, he has had on-farm exposure to sub-tropical and temperate crops including almonds, pome and stone fruits, brassicas, potatoes and leafy vegetables production systems. He has also had several years of experience working in extensive livestock production operations in both Queensland and the Northern Territory.
His professional career after farming was based with several iconic R&D crop protection companies and farm supplies companies giving him a deep understanding of the practicalities and idiosyncrasies of theoretical and applied research within agriculture production. His career has given him the exposure and experience across many aspects of farming including fertiliser, agchem, packaging, genetics and the supporting technology and tools.
